Kryptos were far from boring for me. I loved their brand of 'traditional metal'.

Yes, Kryptos were far from boring. The showmanship, the stage presence, the leathers, they rocked the stage. The guy could be saying 'drummer sucked' cause he didn't have much complexities to deliver. Yet, impressive indeed. "You ain't cool, unless you're old school"... lol.

By the way, did anyone else find E.quals boring yesterday? I mean, Jindabad!!! gave one hell of a performance, which I think was the best of the day, and I couldn't find anything that followed upto their level, not even Kryptos.

Kryptos were the tightest band i ever saw live, personal opinion. Well thier music wasn't that much of complicated but had the perfect tool of execution.
Yes i would have been excited if they had vocals as of the power metal or the new wave of british heavy metal. They sounded monotonous at times due to thier horizontal thrasy vocal lines.

Jindabaad were tight,good ,
Equals did a great performance with few exceptions in the playing
The stage and light systems were commendable.

+1
The best gig I've been to. Jindabaad were amazing. The ambiance and environment did justice to the quality of their music. The intro to shades of you was beautifully improvised.
Equals were also brilliant. I
Kryptos wasn't as big a letdown as i'd expected. It wasn't exactly virtuoso music, but it was tight: good simple thrash. I don't remember the guitarists changing their guitar tone even once. Were they even using any pedals?
All in all, a great show.

I felt the same way about the vocals, cleans would have been great.

Haha. Those "paanipuri walas" are living the dream, man. Record deals, opening for their idols, Europe tour, etc. Fuck, I wouldn't care what anyone called me as long as I was living my dream.

Exactly. Kryptos have a pretty good following in places as far as latin america, they get europe tour dates, they open for some of the biggest bands (they're opening for Lacuna Coil in the near future  Shocked), and our oh so glorious 'fans' call them 'khaate dhotis' hahaha. I am pretty sure if any Nepali band would have deliverd the same energetic performance that they gave on saturday, EVERYONE would be like "waaa kya pro jasto yar waaa, pride of our scene!".

I think we should be glad that at least we got to see one foreign band performing in the scene. Btw, airlines ticket + hotel charge apart, the actual band charge that they asked for was less than some of our bands demand. I thought that was cool.

I know they have pretty good contacts in India. Especially their band manager Salman, who has pretty good relations with organizers like DNA networks. So, I thought it was a good opportunity to at least get an exposure. And Jindabaad did get attention. As I said before, they were nice enough to ask for the band's CD, in order to promote them a little. As soon as Jindabaad's album gets done, we will send them to the guys in Kryptos. I'm not expecting too much, but still, this is a good thing isn't it? With luck, maybe an organizer will take notice, and invite them.

THAT's the real outcome that we want when we invite a foreign band. At least euta link ta banchha ni, kehi bhaye pani nabhaye pani. And our fucked up crowd are like "yo dhoti haru ko tel nikalidincha nepali band haru!" hahaha as if.

And what's with this "technical thena, jhur drummer" comment?

^^totally agree. Its sort of a small launchpad they're making for you for a bigger launchpad. I just hope Jindabaad are invited to India now if the Kryptos guys actually help.
And personally, i don't think a band which opens for such big names would have a bad drummer. Maybe the guy sucked that day, or maybe some people's ears did.
Or maybe we haven't seen enough bands to get into a different thing than we are used to.

hahaha. Tei. I mean, look at Metallica and Lars Ulrich as their drummer. I remember Blob posting a link http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=146515
People think that he's an imbecile of a drummer.

ok, i just watched the videos and i'm feeling bad, real bad for myself.
This is probably the biggest thing that ever happened in Nepal.
By the way, was all the sound/lighting and stage just a reception for Kryptos or are we gonna see more gigs of this quality and setup from now on? If ISS and the organizers did it this time, others can do it too!

I don’t deny that Kryptos  are good,  may be I had more expectation from them as they had opened for Iron Maiden…three guitarist were performing good  but I didn’t like the drummer.  they bored me because I felt they were monotonous. but I enjoyd.

How much do bands demand these days anyway?
